What is Propionic Acid, FCC Grade?
It is a colorless liquid with a pungent scent, miscible in water and almost all normal organic solvents. It is used as a preservative alone, or reacted to produce ammonium, calcium, or sodium propionate. It complies with the Food Chemical Codex (FCC), FDA requirements for use in human food, and is produced under Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
Uses
- Human food preservative, flavoring agent, and additive
- Animal feed preservative
- Intermediate for other food and feed preservatives such as calcium propionate
- Intermediate for Pharmaceutical API synthesis
