Dow recognizes its responsibility to protect people and the environment throughout the life cycle of its products, from manufacturing to disposal/recycle. Commitment to this responsibility is reflected in its 2025 Sustainability Goals. Transitioning to a circular economy and producing safer materials is not only vital to the preservation and protection of the planet’s natural resources, but also to the success of businesses.

Dow actively supports the use of safer and environmentally conscious materials and has been working to strive excellence from production to development and disposal of products, applying for external recognition that comply with several global and European Union requirements. A team of experts of several areas and departments contribute to the success of Product Stewardship Program that covers all stages of a product's life cycle and are closely monitored to ensure continuous improvement.

Within the Industrial Intermediates & Infrastructure segments, Dow applied and got the EU Ecolabel certification for a list of additives for paints and varnishes and in the industrial cleaning segment. Established in 1992 and recognized across Europe and worldwide, the EU Ecolabel is a label of environmental excellence that is awarded to products and services meeting high environmental standards throughout their life cycle: from raw material extraction, to production, distribution and disposal. The EU Ecolabel promotes circular economy by stimulating producers to generate less waste and CO2 during the manufacturing process. The EU Ecolabel criteria also encourages companies to develop products that are durable, easy to repair and recycle.
