Driving higher voltage, power and energy efficiency
With fast switching capability and high voltage capacity, insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) power modules are finding increasing use in a wide range of applications. Silicone solutions from Dow bond, seal and protect the advanced printed circuit board assembly systems that drive IGBTs in challenging applications such as variable speed drives, solar inverters, wind power converters, uninterruptable power supplies, power transmission systems, electric vehicles, and rail and marine transportation.
Why silicones
Silicones are extremely adaptable and durable. They hold up to extreme temperatures, mechanical strains and harsh chemicals, providing reliable bonding, sealing and thermal stability.
Which silicones
Our silicone gels cure into a soft material that remains stable even at high temperatures while delivering excellent dielectric insulation. We also offer tougher grades with improved mechanical strength to prevent bubble/crack generation in high voltage applications.
For bonding and sealing, our silicone adhesives encompass a range of viscosities and cure chemistries. They perform reliably over a wide set of operating temperatures, deliver excellent unprimed adhesion and provide mechanical stress dampening.
To manage the high internal temperatures of IGBT modules, we also offer thermally conductive silicone materials that effectively channel damaging heat away from sensitive components for better reliability and performance.
