Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) & Propylene Glycol (PG)

Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) & Propylene Glycol (PG) function as co-solvents enhancing the solubility of active pharmaceutical ingredients. PEG is a preferred solubilizer for alcohol-free and pediatric formulations.

VERSENE™ NA Chelating Agent (Edetate Disodium USP, Disodium EDTA) is used to stabilize color, and flavors for syrups and elixirs.

Class II & Class IV Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients prove challenging for formulators. These compounds usually require advanced formulation techniques to enhance their solubility.

CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ Polyethylene Glycols (PEG) & Methoxypolyethylene Glycols (MPEG):

  • Trusted solubilizers for poorly water-soluble APIs
  • Globally accepted - found in prescriptions and over the counter formulations all over the world
  • Low aldehyde grades available for concerns of API oxidation

Reduce degradation risks

Active ingredients are vulnerable to oxidation and metal-catalyzed degradation; help protect your formulation stability with Dow excipients.

VERSENE™ NA Edetate Disodium:

  • Partially neutralized salt of EDTA in dry form
  • Suitable for pharmaceutical formulations
  • Extends operational life of in-process liquids
  • Stabilizes color, flavor and other ingredients in liquid oral dose

Low Aldehyde Grades

Oxidative degradation of APIs occurs in the presence of elevated peroxide levels leading to a decreased therapeutic effect and poor long-term stability of the finished drug product.

The presence of aldehydes can lead to:

  • Formation of acids, i.e. formic acid and acetic acid, decreasing the apparent pH of the drug solution
  • Decrease in pH can affect the stability of active pharmaceutical ingredients that are sensitive to hydrolyticdegradation
  • Long-term and short-term stability of the final formulation can be affected

CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ PEGs Low Aldehyde:

  • Strict specifications on peroxide and aldehyde levels
  • Improved short and long-term stability of APIs in the formulation
  • Uniform dissolution and drug release profiles
