Catalysts to enable more efficient chemical production
Dow has a long history of developing and implementing new catalysts in production facilities across regions, operating ages, conditions and reactor designs. We offer catalysts to produce oxo alcohols and ethylene oxide (EO).
We leverage our firsthand understanding of plant operations and plant design to our catalyst development and ongoing catalyst management and customer support. Customers can take advantage of a variety of engineering services, including process optimization, plant capacity studies, plant upgrades and remote and on-site technical support from Dow representatives.
Oxo Alcohol Production
Dow’s NORMAX™ Catalyst is a leading hydroformylation product used to produce alcohols from olefins. Licensed plants designed for the LP OxoSM SELECTORSM 30 Technology use NORMAX™ Catalyst to help achieve higher ratios of linear to branched aldehydes from short chain olefins. NORMAX™ Catalyst is only available from Dow and is made available to customers licensing the LP OxoSM Process Technology from Dow and Johnson Matthey Davy Technologies Limited.
EO/EG Production
Dow’s METEOR™ EO-RETRO 2000 Catalyst (MR2000 Catalyst) is a high-selectivity, high-activity, silver-based catalyst for EO/EG production. It helps reduce direct CO2 generation, hence minimizing CO2 as a byproduct. The MR2000 Catalyst also helps improve process efficiency by reducing energy use in the downstream separation phase. It is robust and flexible and can be installed at production facilities regardless of the plant’s age, design technology and retrofit history.
MR2000 Catalyst is available to customers using any EO/EG process technology, including Dow METEOR™ Process licensees.
