Integrating PCR content without compromising performance
As part of our mission to increase recyclability and reduce plastic waste, we’re working to integrate PCR content into our solutions; but how do we do this without compromising on performance?

The challenge
Create more sustainable industrial films and packaging solutions that integrate post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials and make the best use of our resources without compromising on the required industry load stability parameters.
The solution
Working with partners BPI and HIPAC, renowned packaging film producers, we achieved an optimized combination of secondary and tertiary packaging, enabling a reduction of materials used without compromising on load stability and preventing goods from being wasted.
The result
Through this collaboration, we were able to:
- Replace more than 30% of virgin materials with 30% post-consumer recycled materials in Heavy Duty Shipping Sacks (HDSS), making them more sustainable while still robust and durable.
- Downgauge the stretch films from the standard 23 microns down to 12 microns, while still maintaining all the key mechanical properties needed in the industry.
- Reduce film consumption from 594 to 299 grams per pallet,
while still providing all the critical properties of high performance industrial films and meeting the industry load safety requirements
