Polyolefin elastomer innovation for mattresses

INFINAIR™ is a sustainability solution in polyolefin elastomer (POE) technology specifically designed for 3D Loop markets. This innovative material can be used in a wide variety of applications, from residential mattresses to pet beds, baby pillows, medical mattresses and outdoor furniture.

The INFINAIR™ solution is developed by fusing thermoplastic elastomer filaments to form thousands of bonded loops by a melt extrusion and water-cooling process. 

The 3D Loop material made from INFINAIR™ offers better airflow, support, and comfort compared to traditional foam materials. Its 90%+ open structure and elastomeric nature embodies mattresses with many traits like the ones listed below.

Empowering the circular economy

Innovative 3D Loop mattresses are easier to recycle than mattresses made with traditional foams.

 

We designed INFINAIR™ POE 3D Loop to be almost 100% recyclable. The material’s thermoplastic nature makes it very easy to break down into material that can enjoy a second life as furniture, footwear, and infrastructure like running tracks and playgrounds. The production of INFINAIR™ POE 3D Loop is also clean, solvent-free, adhesive-free and with little volatile organic compounds (VOC). All those ensure this material’s low carbon footprint.

Expanding converters’ creativity with disruptive mattress technology

Dow utilized innovations from the cutting edge of product design, catalyst, and process technology to ensure that INFINAIR™ polyolefin elastomers are high quality and provide good processability and recyclability. Compared to other polyolefin and mattress products, Dow INFINAIR™ polyolefin elastomers show easy extrusion and better fiber bonding when making the 3D Loop.
