The world keeps turning – constantly changing and becoming more and more complex. So, why should cap and closure needs be any different?

EVERCAP™ Innovative Closure Resins are a family of polyethylene (PE) resins designed to take on the unique, evolving challenges of caps, closures and fitments used in a multitude of beverage and non-beverage applications. But, like their name implies, these resins are different. In other words…this is not your parents’ polyethylene.

EVERCAP™ Innovative Closure Resins support sustainability initiatives in many ways. Of course, as PE, they’re among the most readily and widely recycled polymers in the world. Equally important, their exceptional performance creates opportunities for lightweighting and simplified material use. This not only helps reduce plastic waste but can also potentially result in lower energy use and carbon emissions.

As e-commerce continues to grow, these highly durable materials can also help prevent waste caused by packaging failures during shipping. And, at the end of their useful life, caps and closures made with EVERCAP™ resins can help improve the integrity of the recycle stream by aligning with Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) guidelines. Finally, we’re continuing to explore the possibilities of even more sustainable feedstocks, manufacturing and advanced recycling, as well as participating in a wide range of other sustainability programs.

Energy drink caps

By balancing high levels of stiffness, abuse and environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR), EVERCAP™ Innovative Closure Resins are raising the bar for closure strength and durability. Their distinctive softness allows excellent seals without the use of liners. Selected grades also offer improved barrier performance with up to 40 percent higher oxygen barrier.

The resins’ excellent taste and odor performance is backed by ISO- and ASTM-certified analytics (tested in our state-of-the-art Sensory Science Labs). And the right combinations of processability and physical performance allow the use of injection or compression molding processes with the potential for “drop-in” processing (tunable shrinkage) and faster cycle times via consistent, waterfall closure ejection.

Our deep understanding of material science and rich heritage of proven PE performance help us work closely with customers to develop tailored solutions for both new and existing closure designs. A few possibilities include:

  • Cost-saving functionality enhancements that maintain or improve the consumer experience
  • Conversion from two-piece lined polypropylene (PP) closures to lighter, one-piece PE closures
  • More sustainable closures, spouts and dispensers for cleaning and personal care products
  • Lightweighting of one-piece PE carbonated soft drink (CSD) closures
  • Metal cap and/or hinged closure replacement
