Enhancing the look, feel and performance of substrates
From footwear, fashion accessories and clothing to furniture and automotive upholstery, leather is all around us. To produce the soft, durable and functional leather needed for these everyday applications, leather manufacturers rely on a range of chemistries, including binders, lubricants, processing aids and additives.
Our portfolio of proprietary silicone, acrylic and polyurethane chemistries combined with our leather application experience can help formulators develop both the high-performance coatings needed for use in tanneries, as well as the solutions that support the wet-end processes. Additionally, as the industry pushes towards more sustainable products and processes, our fluoro-carbon free, aldehyde free and bisphenol free solutions help meet the demands of leather brands and provide regulatory compliance.
Solutions for the Wet-End Processes:
- The acrylic syntans LEUKOTAN™ Tanning Agents can be used in addition to or as a replacement of aromatic syntans and vegetable extracts.
- Our distinct acrylic and hybrid chemistries, including LUBRITAN™ Acrylic Retans, can be used as full or partial replacements of fatliquors to provide haptics and water repellent performance.
Solutions for Leather Finishing:
- OPTI-MATT™ Dullers, HYDRHOLAC™ Dullers and PRIMAL™ Emulsions offer final gloss or soft-matting effects.
- Silicone ROSILK™ Feel Modifiers help coating formulators enhance properties such as luxurious hand feel, abrasion and chemical resistance, as well as anti-soiling and anti-squeak.
A selection of DOWSIL™ Silicone Chemistries can also be leveraged and that can be in wet end or finishing.
