A propylene glycol-based Geothermal Fluid developed to provide improved performance and safety for geothermal heat pumps. DOWCAL™ Geothermal Fluids were designed to overcome the drawbacks of alternative fluids, providing greater assurance that geothermal systems will repay their initial investment costs in energy savings and in years of reliable, safe, and economical operation.

Free of borate, nitrate, and CMR (Carcinogenic, mutagenic, and reprotoxic) classified substances
Can be used where toxicity is a concern. Propylene glycol-based fluid that is low in acute oral toxicity
Nonflammable. When diluted in water at recommended concentrations, no measurable flash points. No fire hazard compared to alcohol-based fluids
Efficient heat transfer. Changing from alcohol-based fluids to DOWCAL™ Geothermal Fluids will likely have no measurable impact on overall system heat transfer efficiency (individual fluid coefficients differ)
Contains Dow signature corrosion inhibitors to protect metals. (Advantage over methanol, water, or uninhibited glycols)
Can be diluted to a 20% concentration while maintaining Pumping Efficiency and providing Corrosion Protection
