Dow offers both SAE AMS 1424 Type I deicing fluids and SAE AMS 1428 Type IV anti-icing fluids, in propylene glycol (PG) and ethylene glycol (EG) formulations. Type I fluids are available in both ready-to-use and concentrate form. Type IV fluids are formulated to be used neat (undiluted).
EG is an excellent freezing point depressant and has a lower chemical oxygen demand during waste treatment when compared to PG. PG-based fluids are recognized as low in acute oral toxicity.
