For a Perfect Look with Superior Performance
Maryan Mehlhorn Introduces "Dynasty" - A Retro Glamor Collection with DOW XLA™ Fiber

Horgen – (September 1st, 2007)

Whether you are looking for a bikini, a one-piece suit, a tankini, or the latest “it” beachwear model – a monokini – ultimate style, sophisticated cuts and superior performance are guaranteed in the new Maryan Mehlhorn “Dynasty” collection.

The multiple award-winning Maryan Mehlhorn, and recognized as one of Europe’s top leading beachwear designers, has collaborated with DOW XLA™ to present her latest range of ideas, coupling sophistication and retro glamour with a superior fit material – to introduce the “Dynasty” collection. The incorporation of DOW XLA™ into this new luxury collection is a revolutionary move that demonstrates how tomorrows’ innovations can be worn in today’s beachwear.

Maryan Mehlhorn chose DOW XLA™ for this exclusive high-end collection, which offers diverse models in different styles and exclusive cuts as the unique qualities of this fiber provide her with ultimate design freedom. A one-piece suit, tankini, and the highly fashionable monokini are available in boldest black with elegant sequins, showing the ultimate glamour look.

Weaving the DOW XLA™ fiber into these “it” suits, has made them perspiration resistant and able to maintain the perfect fit and shape much longer. DOW XLA™ withstands exposure to UV light and suntan lotion and is inherently chlorine proof and seawater resistant – for enduring shapes without bagging or sagging. Furthermore, the suits offer a very soft, natural hand-feel and are easy to care for.

Thorsten Küthe, Commercial Manager for Dow Fiber Solutions said, “We were particularly happy that it was Maryan Mehlhorn who chose to launch DOW XLA™ fiber into the beachwear market with us because we wanted to ensure that this revolutionary fiber would be coupled with the latest in swimwear design. We have already seen how the fashion industry is rapidly incorporating DOW XLA™ fiber into their collections as more and more consumers look for exceptional shape retention and easy-care garments but this partnership with Maryan Mehlhorn symbolizes the beginning of a new era in beachwear“.

Maryan Mehlhorn adds: “To be the first beachwear designer to use DOW XLA™ stretch fiber feels very special. When wearing swimwear, your body is more exposed than in everyday wear so it is important to have the perfect fit. This fiber actually enhances the body shape in all the right places; you get a formed body in a suit that is stylish, comfortable and durable. The fiber also has the unique ability to maintain a natural hand feel, so we have been able to incorporate these into our beachwear collections”.

The Maryan Mehlhorn collection will be available at retailers globally. The first ones to offer the Dynasty collection will be, Harrods in London, KaDeWe in Berlin, Alsterhaus in Hamburg, Oberpollinger in Munich, Perosa in Switzerland, Boîte à Maillots in Cannes and Zubiri in Bilbao.

DOW XLA™ is inherently chlorine proof, resistant to sun lotion and UV light – enabling swimwear to keep its fit and shape much longer -- making DOW XLA™ fiber the premier choice for the beachwear market.

08/22/2007A Partnership Between Adidas and Dow Fiber Solutions View

A Partnership Between Adidas and Dow Fiber Solutions
Cool Design Meets Chlorine Resistant Quality

Horgen – (August 22nd, 2007)

Dow Fiber Solutions (DFS) announces that its revolutionary stretch fiber, DOW XLA™, is weaved into an innovative new line of adidas swimwear, Infinitex Plus, designed for competitive swimmers who demand durability as well as performance and comfort.

The breakthrough technology behind DOW XLA™ eliminates the trade-off between durability, performance and comfort that has long plagued active swimmers. This enables swimmers to rely on suits with an active fit, designed for sleek, efficient movement in the pool, that are comfortable and durable lap after lap, month after month.

Traditionally, stretch fibers have deteriorated after just 100-200 hours of exposure to chlorinated pool water. In contrast, DOW XLA™ is the first and only stretch fiber that continues to perform after 1,000 hours of exposure to chlorinated pool water. The Infinitex Plus line is therefore able to keep its fit and shape over time and stay free of unsightly bagging and sagging and is also better able to withstand exposure to UV light and suntan lotion than swimwear made with traditional stretch fibers.

“The introduction of DOW XLA™ into the Infinitex Plus line allows us to take our competitive training swimwear to a new level, differentiating adidas among competitors and giving active swimmers unprecedented, nocompromise performance,” said Christine Barth, Head of Business Unit Swimming at adidas.

“Our partnership with adidas – which has already seen the introduction of DOW XLA™ into the adilibria range of high-style fashion swimwear – represents an alliance of companies determined to elevate the performance of swimwear apparel to an entirely new level,” said Michel Caillibotte, global marketing manager at Dow Fiber Solutions. The swimsuits are more fitted, lighter and more comfortable than ever before. The line features four swimsuits, two bikinis for women and six pants for men in attractive designs and will be available at retailers and adidas stores globally from July/August 2007 onwards.

Dow Fiber Solutions Targets the Hotel and Lodging Market for New Stretch Fiber for Uniforms

New York, NY - July 17, 2007

Dow Fiber Solutions, a business unit of Dow Chemical Company, is targeting the hotel and lodging market for DOW XLA™, the world's first olefin-based stretch fiber. DOW XLA™ adds value to uniforms and other garments with its soft stretch and hand and its inherent resistance to high temperatures and harsh chemicals used in launderings.

"The hotel and lodging industry is highly competitive and companies are constantly looking for ways to make their business operations more efficient and effective," said LeAnn Schwartz, Dow Fiber Solutions North American Manager for Commercial Wear. "DOW XLA™ can make a difference for them because the fiber's stretch makes garments more comfortable, which can positively impact employee productivity, and more durable, which can increase the life-span of the garment."

DOW XLA™ is based on proprietary technology. Tests show that garments made with DOW XLA™ maintain dimensional stability and elasticity without shrinking after more than 50 cycles of industrial laundering at 95 degrees Celsius and tunnel drying.

DOW XLA™ was first introduced into the professional wear market in Europe in September 2005 and has received wide and growing acceptance there. Based on that success, Dow Fiber Solutions is planning to partner with uniform manufacturers in North America to develop revolutionary, comfort-stretch fabrics with lasting performance for uniforms and other garments used in the hotel and lodging market, according to Schwartz.

Dow Fiber Solutions, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company, is dedicated to pioneering innovations for the global textile industry by matching proactive research and development expertise with the creative vision of retailers, designers and manufacturers - to meet consumer needs. The business has established a customer base in Europe, Asia/Pacific, the United States and South America to produce fabrics made with DOW XLA™ elastic fiber. DOW XLA™ is one of many innovative products that underscore Dow's strategy to strengthen its performance business portfolio by prioritizing marketing and application development activities that support high-value, end-use applications. Dow Presente La Fiber Stretch XLA™ Nouvelle Generation Pour L’ Industrie De La Mode View

Dow Presente La Fiber Stretch XLA™ Nouvelle Generation Pour L’ Industrie De La Mode

Dow Presenta All’industria Della Moda La Fibra Elastia XLA™ Di Nuova Generazione

fresco e innovativo, come tessuto prevalente.

Dow Presenta La Fibra Elástica XLA™ De Nueva Generación Al Sector De La Moda

Alice Roi Partners With DOW XLA™ For A Fashion Break Through!

New York, NY - December 31, 2006

Dow XLA™ announces their exciting new partnership with celebrated New York fashion designer Alice Roi. With her chic metropolitan sensibility and distinct creative vision, Alice Roi was ideal to introduce this innovative new fiber from Dow Fiber Solutions to the fashion press. The twenty piece black wool denim collection will debut in February during fall 2007 Mercedes - Benz fashion week in New York.

"This partnership is very exciting for both Dow XLA™ and Alice Roi. We are thrilled to offer such comprehensive and effective design solutions for denim while still addressing the fashion needs of the designer clientele. Denim has become a wardrobe staple and with the combination of supreme durability, easy comfort and effortless style, we feel that we are approaching the denim market in a revolutionary way" says Akiko Inui, Global Brand Marketing Manger of Dow XLA™.

The Alice Roi and Dow XLA™ collaboration embodies a fresh and innovative take on denim. Using black wool denim as the dominant fabrication the collection combines two distinct moods. The feminine side of the collection is apparent in soft detailing such as delicate bows and doll-like mini dresses, while the moodier side is awakened in futuristic, robotic patching of wool denim.

The Dow XLA™ stretch fiber technology is progressive - allowing everything from Alice Roi's black wool denim mini dresses to sleek, skinny pants fit as though they were custom made. This collection mixes the benefits of the unique and durable fiber with Alice Roi's signature wit that fashionistas everywhere have come to know and love. This collection is practical and sweet, irreverent yet classic.

Designer's Management Agency (DMA) assisted in development of the special collection's marketing strategy and was the key negotiator to the Dow Chemical Company in the designer identification process, which ultimately led to the procurement of Ms. Roi. "Marrying Alice Roi's highly innovative capabilities to the XLA™ innovative material has produced a product that breaks new ground in both design and technology," says Marc Beckman, President, DMA.

Dow Fiber Solutions is releasing Dow XLA™ for denim. The high-performance stretch fiber has been recognized by fashion insiders as a luxurious alternative to other stretch fibers due to its ability to withstand various chemical treatments that would normally damage a denim finish. The benefits of Dow XLA™ include resistance to chemical harshness, high heat and unparalleled shape retention. Dow XLA™ fiber is the world's first olefin-based stretch fiber that offers gentle, non-snap stretch and recovery to provide true freedom of movement. For the first time, designers can develop denim collections that have both comfortable, breathable stretch and the ability to endure even the harshest chemical treatments and destructive denim washes and finishes - without loss of stretch. Introducing Dow Fiber Solution’s next-generation XLA™ fiber for denim.

This next-generation XLA™ for denim is a revolutionary, premium stretch fiber that is inherently resistant to high heat and harsh chemicals, enabling a luxurious hand and incredible fit. Especially engineered for garments that need exceptional comfort stretch and recovery and unparalleled shape retention, next-generation XLA™ resists harsh chemical treatments to allow for a variety of desired effects - such as denim finishes. Next-generation XLA™ for denim maintains the authentic look and feel of cotton denim, with little to no shrinkage, sagging or bagging - even after multiple wears, machine washes, or dry cleanings.

The new high-performance elastic fiber has been recognized by fashion insiders as the only stretch solution for denim due to its ability to withstand various chemical treatments that would normally damage a denim finish. Designers no longer need to sacrifice style for comfort.

Alice Roi, a New York-based designer, created an XLA™ Fall 2007 collection of trousers, coats, shirts and skirts that embodies a fresh and innovative take on denim, by using black wool denim as the dominant fabric. "By choosing fabrics made with XLA™, I have the freedom to design comfortable yet fitted garments that won’t stretch out over time, and in deep colors that won’t fade," says Roi.

We are thrilled to offer such a comprehensive and effective stretch solution, while still addressing the fashion needs of designers," says Akiko Inui, Global Brand Marketing Manger of Dow Fiber Solutions. "Denim has become a wardrobe staple and with the combination of supreme durability, easy comfort and effortless style, we feel that we are approaching the denim market in a revolutionary way."

State of Undress (à visiter à Spicy Garden – A7).

Dow XLA™ Faser Bringt Bi-Stretch-Vorteile Bei Geweben Für Wettkampfschwimmbekleidung View
PDF (40KB)

Optimaler Sitz und zusätzlicher Komfort bieten Wettkampfschwimmern einen Vorteil

Lyon Mode City – (2.

State of Undress (Spicy Garden - A7).

PDF (62KB)

Providing the Swimwear, Workwear and Ready-To-Wear Markets With the World’s First Elastic Fiber Inherently Resistant to Harsh Chemicals and High Heat

HORGEN – (February 21, 2006) – Dow used its more than 50 years of leadership in polymer and material science to develop DOW XLA™ fiber, the world’s first olefin-based elastic fiber inherently resistant to harsh chemicals and high heat and specifically engineered to meet niche market needs in high-value segments such as swimwear, workwear and ready-to-wear apparel markets.

Swimwear

Swimwear: Due to the growing demand for a stretch product that retains the shape of swimwear by resisting chlorine degradation, Dow Fiber Solutions successfully launched DOW XLA™ CP to the swim market. DOW XLA CP is the world’s first elastic fiber that is Chlorine Proof. While other stretch fiber offerings see deterioration after only 200-300 hours of exposure to chlorine, DOW XLA CP has the inherent properties needed to resist chlorine for more than 1,000 hours – or longer than the host fiber – providing the ultimate shape retention over time. It is inherently resistant to chlorine and the combination of sun cream and UV light – making it the premier choice for the swimwear market.

Workwear

Workwear: Uniform manufacturers, laundry suppliers and leasing companies are looking for more durable, longer-lasting garments – that meet industry standards while lowering costs and positively affecting the bottom line. At the same time, uniform and career apparel wearers need workwear apparel solutions that are safe, comfortable and easy-to-wear. To meet these demands, Dow Fiber Solutions introduced DOW XLA™ HTT – a revolutionary High Temperature Tolerant fiber – the first and only stretch solution that is inherently resistant to the high heat and harsh chemicals used in industrial laundering, tunnel drying and dry cleaning. DOW XLA HTT is the world’s first olefin-based stretch fiber to withstand temperatures up to 220 degrees Celsius without compromising the stretch performance. Because of this, many fabric and garment manufacturers including Europe-based companies like Bierbaum-Proenen, Kuebler and Alsico, have begun working with DOW XLA HTT.

Ready-To-Wear

Ready-To-Wear: In response to demand for performance fabrics that are comfortable, durable and easy to care for, Dow Fiber Solutions presents DOW XLA™ fiber – a revolutionary fiber – the first and only stretch performance that can be combined with true non-iron finishes to create the ultimate garments for today’s busy lifestyles. Brooks Brothers was the first U.S. retailer to sell garments made from DOW XLA fiber, weaving it into its two-ply cotton shirt to create a new woman’s fitted shirt that doesn’t require ironing. Other major U.S. retailers are now incorporating DOW XLA fiber into their garments and retailers in Europe, such as CasaModa in Germany, are also using the fiber.
