Dow Increases Off-List Prices for UCON Hydrolube Fire-Resistant Hydraulic Fluids

Midland, MI - February 26, 2007

Effective April 1, 2007 The Dow Chemical Company will raise all off-list prices of UCON™ Hydrolube fire resistant hydraulic fluids in the North America, or as contracts allow.  The increase includes:

  • $0.02 per pound or $0.18 per gallon for all UCON™ Hydrolube concentrates and thickeners
  • $0.02/lb or $0.18 per gallon for fully formulated fluids and high pressure fluids

“The competitive environment to secure critical petrochemical raw materials, and to justify reinvestment in assets to produce our Hydrolube product line dictate margin improvement,” explained Pete Pendergast, marketing manager UCON™ Fluids and Lubricants. “This price increase is necessary to restore margins and provide our valued customers with the quality products and support they expect from Dow.” 

UCON Water Glycol Hydraulic Fluids deliver un-matched benefits to end users in critical industries such as Die Casting, Steel Processing and other fire sensitive applications.  Dow continues to provide industry leading, value added support including Factory Mutual Approvals, fluid performance data and testing, application support for existing fluids, as well as the development of new fluids to meet changing customer and market needs.  These activities are not justified at current margin levels.
