Personal Care
Overview
Polyalkylene glycols (PAGs) are widely used in cosmetics and toiletries. Products formulated with PAGs feature superior softening, conditioning, and skin-smoothing characteristics, without leaving a tacky feel or undesired moisture on the skin. In personal care formulations, PAGs:
- are neutral and odorless, with a relatively low order of toxicity
- are non-irritating to the skin
- are water-soluble
- do not decompose and seldom react with other ingredients
- offer a wide range of compatibilities and moderate hygroscopicity, so any intermediate melting point or viscosity can be obtained.
