CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ PEGs and MPEGs are formulated to meet applicable requirements of the National Formulary (NF) and are widely used as excipients for pill and tablet binding or coating, gelatin capsules, ointments and creams, liquid medications, and suppositories. They are also used as active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in such products as laxatives and colonic lavage solutions. They have unique medicament solvent properties, low toxicity, blandness and good water solubility. Polyethylene glycols make excellent water-soluble ointment bases; they spread easily and evenly over the skin even if the skin is moist. Their good water solubility makes it easy to incorporate aqueous ingredients in the formulation, and they do not become rancid or have nutritional value to support microbial growth.

CARBOWAX™ SENTRY™ PEGs provide multiple benefits in the tableting process as binders, and provide internal and external lubrication. They also function as plasticizers for tablet coatings, and are found in spray-on medications and sustained-release devices.
