Liquid PEGs such as CARBOWAX™ PEGs 200, 300 and 400, are used in paper to soften, add flexibility and desired slip characteristics, and to prevent swelling and curling caused by changes in humidity. Solid PEGs are effective lubricants in paper coating compositions, promoting good flow-out with good gloss and smoothness in calendering operations. PEGs are also used as color stabilizers, plasticizers, antisticking agents and dimensional stabilizers.
