PaperFine Paper / Coated Wood FreeOur latexes provide a wide range of end-use properties for fine paper. Some enable high coating gloss, while others enable low coating gloss. Our plastic pigments can improve gloss and smoothness, reducing the need for higher supercalender pressures and temperatures. They can also help maintain opacity and brightness with less titanium dioxide or optical brightener. Whether you're looking for a latex that can run at high solids, or one that improves printability, Dow latex fits the bill. Light Weight Coated (LWC)For over sixty years, our latexes have helped coated groundwood manufacturers compete in the global market. Dow technology helps maximize film coating performance and can be effectively integrated into neutral/alkaline formulations for papers that will be printed using offset techniques. Our latexes can also maximize the benefits of total synthetic binder systems and the use of engineered pigments and talcs for papers that will be printed using rotogravure equipment. Our plastic pigments can be used to partially replace clay in formulations, resulting in a bulkier coating at equal or lower basis weight, with better fiber coverage. This enables optimum opacity and smoothness at low coat weight. Specialty PaperTo meet the ever-expanding needs of our customers, Dow offers a number of latex binders for very specific applications. Among these specialty binders are latexes for silicone release, waterless printing, and soft nip calendaring.
