Dow Corning Showcases Building & Construction Silicones Portfolio, Launches Several New Technologies at Silicone City Event
Company's First-Ever Conference and Exhibition Provides Education, Expert Guidance on the Use of Advanced Silicone Technologies in Building & Construction Applications
Dow Corning, a global leader in silicones, silicon-based technology and innovation and a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, is showcasing here today at its inaugural Silicone City conference and exhibition its robust and growing portfolio of advanced silicone technologies for customers in the building and construction industry. These include high-performance silicone adhesives and sealants for building façades, pavement joint sealing, perimeter sealing and a range of interior applications; silicones for photovoltaic modules and LED lighting; silicone-based water repellent coatings and additives to improve the sustainability of building materials and more.
Further underscoring Dow Corning’s commitment to its customers, the company is also introducing several new and innovative silicone-based technologies for crystal-clear structural bonding including: DOW CORNING® Transparent Structural Silicone Adhesive (TSSA) for fixed-point exterior glass façades, DOW CORNING® Transparent Structural Silicone Laminate (TSSL) for interior glazing applications and DOW CORNING® 2400 Silicone Assembly Sealant, which provides a nearly invisible bond for assembly, bonding and sealing of crystal-clear applications.
Dow Corning’s Silicone City conference and exhibition is a new educational event, tailored specifically to Thailand’s building and construction industry. In addition to showcasing its portfolio of building and construction silicone technologies, the company is also spotlighting its quality programs and project management services, giving presentations on two trending topics in construction materials and featuring the use of Dow Corning silicones in real-world applications to meet current and future industry needs. Dow Corning is also discussing the results of two recent studies that found that the company’s structural glazing silicones offer a longevity potential of more than 50 years.
"Dow Corning’s wide range of high-performance silicone solutions have played an increasingly important role in the global building and construction industry for many years, and are widely viewed as the materials of choice in Thailand," said Jean Paul Hautekeer, global marketing director for Building and Construction at Dow Corning. "Silicone City gives us the perfect opportunity to show exactly how these technologies address our customers’ toughest architectural, design and construction challenges."
Latest Silicone Solutions for Structural Glazing and Sealing
DOW CORNING TSSA provides a next-generation bonding option for crystal clear, point fixed external glass façades. This innovative, high strength, structural adhesive helps maximize thermal performance. DOW CORNING TSSL is a crystal-clear film for lamination, and is specifically engineered for interior glass façades and structures including staircases and railings. Its exceptional strength and flexibility accommodate building movements and vibrations. Both products allow designers to avoid unsightly drilling when joining glass pieces.
The third product unveiled today, DOW CORNING® 2400 Silicone Assembly Sealant, is a one-part, moisture-curing, reactive hot melt silicone for assembly, bonding and sealing of interior and exterior structural applications. It delivers excellent resistance to ultraviolet (UV) light, high and low temperatures and weather.
Dow Corning is also showcasing new sealing solutions for both exterior and interior applications.
- DOW CORNING® 896 PanelFix silicone adhesive, an easy-to-use elastic adhesive specifically designed for non-glass panel applications that require high durability and fast handling
- DOW CORNING® 817 Mirror Adhesive, a one-part, non-corrosive and odorless silicone sealant for internal fixation of mirrors, coated glass or metal panels onto various substrates
- DOW CORNING® 121 Structural Glazing Sealant, a fast-curing sealant that can be used on site or in the shop to reduce repair time
Dow Corning is also giving two important presentations:
- Jean Paul Hautekeer is giving a presentation titled, "Silicone innovations for sustainable architecture." It is covering many of the company’s newest silicone innovations to enhance the design, durability and sustainability of high performance buildings.
- Jayrold Bautisa, senior application engineer and technical specialist, is giving a talk on breakthrough crystal-clear bonding. His presentation describes new possibilities for glass façade designs offered by both established silicones and the next-generation of crystal clear structural silicone technologies.
The company’s technical experts are available at Silicone City to discuss upcoming construction projects, trends and current challenges facing the building and construction industry. Participants can also obtain information on Dow Corning’s Project Management System, a systematic approach to enhancing the safety, quality and success of structural silicone glazing projects, and Dow Corning’s Quality Bond™ program, a knowledge-transfer initiative for project partners that offers training, inspections and quality management systems.
