Dow roof membrane technology wins international acclaim in innovation awards
DowDuPont(NYSE: DWDP) – is celebrating a major accolade for its novel acrylic polyurethane polymer technology designed for roofing membranes, which has been named a winner in the Business Intelligence Group (BIG) 2018 Innovation Awards.
Advanced PRIMAL™ EC-5210 PU Acrylic Polyurethane Emulsion Polymer enables development of liquid-applied, high quality roofing membranes with three key attributes: performance against key durability criteria, cost-effective to produce, and with a positive environmental, health and sustainability profile.
Now, the technology has been awarded a BIG Innovation Award as part of an annual scheme that showcases the organizations, products and people that “bring new ideas to life, solve real problems and drive rapid progress across various industries”.
Organizations from across the globe submitted their recent innovations for consideration in the 2018 BIG Innovation Awards. Nominations were then judged by a select group of business leaders and executives who volunteer their time and expertise to score submissions and provide feedback.
“This year’s winners show the diversity of innovation and its impact on the economy, our cultures and the world as a whole,” said Maria Jimenez, chief operating officer of the Business Intelligence Group. “We are thrilled to be honoring all of our winners as these are the organizations, products and people who are leading by example and making real progress on improving the daily lives of so many.”
PRIMAL™ EC-5210 PU Acrylic Polyurethane is a water-borne polymer designed for elastomeric, liquid applied roof membranes. Binders are critical in terms of impact on functionality of such roof coatings: not only do they represent the majority of raw material used, they must deliver against tough performance criteria necessary for an application which comes under extreme mechanical and exposure stresses.
With the market driving demand for high quality construction products that also meet increasingly stringent environmental standards, water-borne solutions such as PRIMAL™ EC-5210 PU offer great potential.
“Receiving a BIG Innovation Award is a major signal to our customers that we have a real winner on our hands with PRIMAL™ EC-5210 PU!” said Cristina Miotto, Strategic Marketing Manager for Dow Construction Chemicals. “It demonstrates that we are offering a solid value proposition for the formulation of cost effective yet long-lasting waterproofing with clear third party endorsement from an internationally-recognised organisation.”
