Injection Molding

Over 30% of all plastics are converted using the injection molding process, which provides the capability to mass-produced intricate parts in a precise manner. When injection molded, polyethylene provides advantages over other polymers including relatively low cost, ease of recycling, good low temperature impact strength, and easier processing.

The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) is a leader in the injection molded durable goods market and the packaging market which tends to require more specialized, higher melt index resins. High density polyethylenes with a melt index of up to 60 are used to mold cups and containers, and linear low density polyethylenes with a melt index of up to 150 are used for lids.
