BPC recommends approval of three active substances for use in disinfection and preservation

June 19, 2018

In April 2018, ECHA’s Biocidal Product Committee (BPC) adopted 12 opinions, approving active chlorine generated from sodium chloride by electrolysis and active chlorine released from hypochlorous acid for disinfection, as well as carbendazim for product types 7 (Film preservatives) and 10 (Construction material preservatives).

The BPC also adopted a non-approval decision for the amoeba Willaertia magna c2c Maky for product type 11 (Preservatives for liquid-cooling and processing systems) due to lack of efficacy and concerns for human health.
