Idea Exposition 2015 Serves as Powerful Platform to Demonstrate Potential of Science
Visitors to the Idea Exposition in Hannover, Germany, crowd around the Dow booth.
A diverse team of Dow chemists, engineers and other professionals joined more than 20 company apprentices to demonstrate the excitement of science at the Idea Exposition 2015 in Hannover.
More than 350,000 people packed the German Pavilion of the World Exposition 2000 for this year’s nine-day Idea Exposition, July 4 to 12. The Dow booth focused on the versatile potential of cellulose derivatives, which touch people’s lives every day through a wide range of products, from mortar to shampoo, pills to flat screens, nail varnish to textiles, ceramic processing to sausage ingredients.
Dow Pharma & Food Solutions and Dow Construction Chemicals employees from both Bomlitz/Bitterfeld and Stade took part in the booth, including Research & Development personnel who were intensively engaged in creating hands-on experiments and demonstrations.
“At the fair, we meet the students and trainees of tomorrow – therefore, Dow´s presence on the exhibition’s grounds is extremely important,” said Dieter Schnepel, Plant Manager of the Stade site. Neldes Hovestad, head of the Bomlitz/Bitterfeld site, added: “Big kudos to our trainees who are taking care of a large amount of our exhibits on the booth – they couldn´t have represented Dow better at the fair.”
In addition, Dow organized 16 buses for 800 pupils from the Bomlitz/Bitterfeld and Stade areas to attend the event.
“Thank you so much for making our visit to the Expo possible,” was the feedback from a teacher at a local secondary school. “For all of us, it has been very interesting and instructive. All in all a successful day cram packed with loads of information, impressions, enriching us with new ideas. Some students were so excited that they returned with their families on the following days. A student of my 8th grade came back full of verve and joy. She was so excited: chemistry just wouldn’t let her go anymore! How great it is to visit a place of learning outside school.”
Since the first fair in 2007, Dow has been a major sponsor of the Idea Exposition.
