Annual Awards Program Recognizes Research That Ties Chemistry to Sustainability
Teachers who lead the Marlborough High School ninth grade STEM team visited the nearby Dow site on Jan. 20 for a look at how STEM skills connect to modern gadgets such as cell phones, tablets and HDTVs.
Home to about 600 employees, the Marlborough site supports Dow’s Electronic Materials business, a leading global supplier of enabling materials used in consumer electronics and related industries. The teachers took part in tours of the facility as well as brainstorming sessions.
Later, representatives from the site’s Research & Development; Engineering; Manufacturing; Environment, Health & Safety; and Marketing functions visited the school to meet with students and teachers. A continuing program of student visits to the Marlborough site for job shadowing and tours is being planned.
