Ensuring Safe Transportation of Chemical MaterialTRANSCAER® (Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response) is a voluntary national outreach effort that helps communities prepare and respond to a transportation incident involving hazardous material.
TRANSCAER® members consist of volunteer representatives from the chemical manufacturing, transportation, distributor, and emergency response industries, as well as the government.
Dow and the Union Pacific Railroad founded TRANSCAER® in 1986 as part of a shared commitment to the safe and secure transportation of chemical materials.
Through TRANSCAER®, free emergency preparedness training is provided to local and regional emergency response organizations. TRANSCAER also provides education for communities near major rail routes about rail equipment, chemical transportation, and the importance of planning for potential hazardous material transportation emergencies.
