Dow Water & Process Solutions unveils its new design software for more sustainable water treatment systems
The global leader in separation and purification technologies presents its latest solutions and success stories at Aquatech Amsterdam 2017.
For the first time in Europe, and as part of its R&D evolution, the company is showcasing its new software that offers customers the opportunity to set, reset and calculate plant designs in just a few clicks. WAVE estimates performance of ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis and ion exchange technologies in water treatment systems, either individually or in various multi-technology combinations. In addition, it offers an innovative approach to accurate water and wastewater treatment modelling that delivers superior time and efficiency savings.
This new free tool will enable engineers globally to design differentiated and optimized solutions as fast and as accurately as needed. For instance, WAVE provides features that include improved and consistent algorithms and harmonized data, as well as the estimated chemical, electricity, feedwater and wastewater disposal costs to enable customers to determine how to become more sustainable and increase economic savings. In addition, the software displays technical details such as the true mass balance volumes and flows that reflect changes in density due to temperature, water composition and water compressibility. This new software upgrades the best features of Dow's older software, including ROSA, while bridging the technologies together under one common, user friendly and time saving interface.
"As water scarcity only continues to increase, industrial manufacturers are under pressure to sustainably optimize their systems by reducing costs and minimizing their environmental footprint. Our R&D team has developed WAVE precisely to help industry leaders to become more sustainable and increase economic savings," says Fabien Creus, WAVE program manager. "We wanted to give a global response to a wide range of sectors and this is why this new software can be a capability across various applications, such as municipal water, softened water, seawater and wastewater."
Dow will present WAVE along with its advanced product range demonstrating "Where the solution is clear", focusing on technologies and solutions that can help businesses drive clear improvements in water treatment and system design. Visitors to Aquatech Amsterdam can attend "Dow Talks", informative sessions where the Company's experts will discuss today's most challenging water issues. Visitors will also learn about Dow success stories including seawater treatments to generate a blueprint for the refinery industry as it seeks to reduce its footprint and drive savings. The residential market will be one of the sectors analyzed by the "Dow Talks", where experts will present the most innovative solutions to make residential water treatment safer and more sustainable through reverse osmosis membranes such as DOW AQUALAST™ 1812, which offers up to 67% savings in water consumption for households.
In this sense, the "Dow Talks" will also discuss the concept of Minimal Liquid Discharge (MLD) that helps to reduce the amount of wastewater discharged to the environment. While Zero Liquid Discharge typically ®™ Trademark of The Dow Chemical Company ("Dow") or an affiliated company of Dow requires a costly evaporator as a last step, Dow MLD solutions radically reduce recovery costs or even turn wastewater into product streams, enabling reuse. Another highlight of Aquatech Amsterdam will be the Leaders Forum program, in which the role of municipalities to achieve a safe, clean and sustainable water future in high-density living areas will be a key focus area. Snehal Desai, Dow's global director for sustainable business blueprints & strategies, will be representing the industrial sector among world leaders such as Minister of Environment and Water Resources in Singapore Zulkifli Masagos and Mayor of Rotterdam Ahmed Aboutaleb, to share the latest developments to create more sustainable cities. Dow's booth is located at stand 348 in hall 7.
