Dow and Falcon Breakthrough Fuel-Marker Technology Win 2017 Edison Award
Dow launched ACCUTRACE™ fuel-marking technology to empower governments to fight back against the revenue loss and dangerous environmental impact of criminal fuel tax evasion. This innovative technology is highly resistant to naturally occurring or illicit laundering of marker out of fuel.
ACCUTRACE™ and the Falcon Analytical CALIDUS™ MT transportable Gas Chromatography (GC) unit form a robust fuel marking and detection system that allows governments to enforce tax law and prevent criminal activity.
"We are honored to have the ACCUTRACE™ S10 fuel marker recognized as an Edison Awards winner," said Ester Baiget, business president, Dow Industrial Solutions. "This highly respected accolade recognizes not only the strength of our market-driven innovation, but also the diligent collaboration between Dow and Falcon, supplier of the CALIDUS™ portable detection unit. This concerted effort to combat fuel fraud demonstrates the power of chemistry and science to address real world challenges."
"Dow has been one of the best scientific collaborators of all time," said John Crandall, President of Falcon Analytical. "The combination of Dow’s unique chemistry and Falcon’s unique fast gas chromatograph enable enforcement at levels not previously possible in the field. This collaboration is just one of the many examples where Dow partnered with a small technology company like ours to deliver excellent results for the users’ needs."
ACCUTRACE™ S10 fuel marker, one of several molecular fuel markers in this innovative product family, has already been independently tested, reviewed, accepted and legislated by the governments of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
CALIDUS™ MT is one of 7 patented fast GC products from Falcon Analytical. Fifty-four MT systems have been deployed in vehicles for roadside ACCUTRACE™ S10 detection in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland for more than a year.
Dow and Falcon are committed to the continued improvement of fuel-marking technology to enable authorities to protect essential fuel uses, the economic well-being of law-abiding citizens and the environment.
