Workshops for Company Experts Strengthen Myanmar's Chemical Industry
In November 2017, Dow collaborated with the Myanmar Chemical Industry Association (MCIA) to offer a second workshop on sharing process safety best practices in the chemical industry. This workshop and another held earlier in 2017 were targeted at local small and medium-sized enterprises to educate and build capacity across the entire value chain of the chemical industry in Myanmar. The workshop was well-received and attracted more than 40 executives from various companies.
The workshop was opened by U Win Htin, Secretary General from Myanmar Industries Association, who thanked Dow for their support of the local chemical industry as the country continues to open up and embrace global practices and challenges.
“It was impressive and effective when audience members shared their process safety practices. We learned that the chemical industry in Myanmar has applied standard protocols. We hope the knowledge provided during the workshop will bring benefits to the industry in enhancing process safety practices and the development of the Myanmar economy,” said Chatchai Luanpolcharoenchai, Dow spokesperson.
Dow's Prapai Saiyasombat, Southeast Asia process safety manager, was the key speaker at the event. Her presentation showcased best practices from Dow's operations in Thailand, the Asia Pacific region, and beyond. Addressing the local audience, she also shared insights to improve process safety in Myanmar.
