Dow’s Christine Lukas Receives Prestigious Industry Award

- November 21, 2017 - Christine Lukas, EH&S Product Stewardship and Fire Safety manager for Dow Building Solutions, recently received the Gold Award for outstanding service from the British Plastics Federation (BPF), one of the UK’s most well-established trade associations. Only a limited number of such awards are given each year. The BPF Council – composed of the president, vice president and a selection of UK plastics industry leaders – makes the decision as to the recipient of the highly regarded award.

“This is a distinguished recognition of Christine’s contributions to the plastics industry in the field of fire safety and issues management,” said Neil Hawkins, corporate vice president and chief sustainability officer. “She is recognized globally as a fire science and safety expert, and we are proud to have her on our team.”

Christine accepted the award at the 84th Annual Dinner held in the historic Lancaster Hotel in London. The evening included presentations on how the BPF engages with the media, issues management such as plastics in the ocean and on attracting young people into the plastics industry.

BPF was established in 1933, and since then has grown to be one of the most prominent and powerful representatives of the UK plastics industry with more than 500 members.
