Dow Seadrift Operations Announces Recipients of 2016 Dow Gives Community

Seadrift, Texas - August 04, 2016

The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:DOW) announced today thirteen local organizations have been selected to receive funding through the Seadrift Operations 2016 Dow Gives Community Grants Program. Through grants from The Dow Chemical Company Foundation, the program helps local non-profit groups implement projects that will improve the quality of life for nearby residents.

“We received a record number of applications this year,” said Gabriella Cone, Community Relations Manager for Seadrift Operations. “The committee was thrilled to see so many great projects going on in the crossroads area. We are looking forward to seeing the positive impact each one of these grants will have in the areas of education, community well-being and environmental responsibility.”

The recipients of the Seadrift Operations 2016 Dow Community Grants Program:

Golden Crescent CASA– Items for a traveling classroom to provide community awareness sessions, volunteer pre-service trainings, and continuing education trainings

The Victoria College Foundation– A project to improve the exterior exhibit and interactive areas of the Museum of the Coastal Bend, including the Atlatl-throwing pad and La Belle Ship Exhibit

Victoria Adult Literacy Council– Science Kits to accompany the FLIP Program books to be used in two after school family literacy programs

Children’s Discovery Museum Inc.– Equip the S.T.E.M counter in the newly renovated Museum

San Antonio Bay Partnership, Inc.– A project to increase the number of students that the Austwell- Tivoli Kids Birding Program can support

Victoria Christian Assistance Ministry– Utility carts and handicap accessible counters for the Client Choice Program and their food pantry

Community Action Community of Victoria– A steam table to enhance the Meals on Wheels Program

Calhoun County ISD– Support the implementation of the You Be The Chemist material into a prechemistry course for middle school students

Hospice of South Texas– Update the equipment in the Vital Signs Monitor Program which features the Connex Spot Monitor for more accurate vital signs, body temperature, pulse rate, etc.

Bloomington Elementary School– A project to implement a STEM program that provides access to high-quality learning opportunities

Palacios Medical Foundation– Updates in equipment for the Palacios Medical Clinic including an Audiometer and Mobile BP Monitor

Hope of South Texas, Inc.– Better equip the play therapy room by provide therapeutic toys used by young abuse victims

Child Study Clinic– A new telephone system to support the South Texas Assessment and Referral Services (STARS) staff
