Dow’s Innovative Silicone Solutions at Astana EXPO 2017
Dow Consumer Solutions, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE:DOW), supplied a range of innovative solutions for the construction of Astana EXPO 2017. Dow’s solutions enabled the high quality of glass units, product application within agreed timeline and specifications, as well as meeting the technical challenges during the preparation and construction phases of EXPO.

Dow supplied the following range of products for the construction of Astana EXPO 2017:
DOW CORNING® 3362 – a two-part silicone for secondary insulation of glass units used for structural glazing
DOW CORNING® 993 – a two-part silicone adhesive for structural bonding of glass in curtain-wall systems
DOW CORNING® 791 – a one-part silicone for weather proofing of structurally glazed facades
These products were specified for many of the facades at EXPO 2017 including the Sphere, which is the main venue of Astana EXPO 2017.
The project was successfully realized in a close cooperation with many companies around the world. It’s important to highlight that UAB Glasspro, Dow Consumer Solutions’s distributor in Building & Construction for Lithuania, Latvia, Belorussia and Kazakhstan, played a significant role in building the optimal supply chain and operational support for all parties in Kazakhstan who were involved in the project. Dow’s strong technical expertise and high level customer service support provided by Alexey Kornilov, application engineer technical service of Dow Consumer Solutionsand Denis Boiko, Dow Consumer Solutions account manager, enabled successful project implementation, underlining once again that the Company is a reliable solutions supplier and a trusted partner.

Astana EXPO 2017
International specialized exhibition EXPO 2017 is being held June 10 - September 10, 2017. The main theme of the exhibition is “Energy of the Future”. It reflects the global community’s concern about energy consumption, which significantly impacts the Earth. The key objectives of the exhibition are the following: to raise the level of responsibility, to promote discussions and share the knowledge that will help people to learn more on how to plan and control energy consumption, minimizing negative impacts on the nature.
Astana EXPO 2017 exhibition center’s total area is 174 ha. 35 facilities are built there, including Kazakhstan national pavilion, international, theme and corporate pavilions, as well as trade and entertainment facilities.
Astana EXPO 2017 is the largest project of Kazakhstan. Astana was named the venue of EXPO 2017 international specialized exhibition on November 22, 2012 at the 152nd General Assembly of International Exhibition Bureau. Representatives of 161 countries, who are the members of the International Exhibition Bureau, took part in the secret ballot. The location of Astana was supported by 103 countries. The upcoming exhibition has become a true national project where all regions of Kazakhstan are taking part.
