New DOWSIL™ Silicones Shown to Improve Energy Efficiency and Productivity in Modern Glass Façades at glasstec 2018
Dow to launch two new products for enhanced energy efficiency and living comfort in modern glass designs and for improved productivity in structural glazing and bonding
Dow will introduce two new advanced silicones at glasstec 2018, from October 23 to 26 in Düsseldorf, Germany, designed to further enhance energy performance and enable productivity gains in glass insulation and structural glazing applications. Exhibiting in Hall 11, stand B59, an integrated innovation wall will showcase the latest bonding and sealing technologies that enable new and high performance designs.

An exciting advancement in the performance of insulating glass
DOWSIL™ 3364 Warm Edge IG Sealant is a secondary edge silicone which offers up to 45% lower thermal conductivity and 25% lower psi-values in warm edge designs when compared to standard insulating glass silicones. This new, patented, ENERGY STAR® product designed to gain European approval (ETAG 002) helps to further lower the u-value of the curtain wall by up to 5% without changing the overall design. DOWSIL™ 3364 Sealant also contributes to a higher level of comfort by raising the internal surface temperature of the glass, reducing the risk of condensation and mold growth.
Increasingly stringent environmental regulations has led architects, planners and energy consultants to re-examine the design of modern glass façades to capture significant energy gain and CO2 emissions reduction potential. Advances in lowering u-values, condensation risks, and insulating glass edges are key topics in the design of high performing façade designs.
Next generation silicone for enhanced productivity in structural bonding
Designed to increase productivity, DOWSIL™ 994 Ultra-Fast Bonding Sealant is ideally suited for structural glazing and other bonding applications such as internal partition wall bonding, solar thermal and window bonding, etc., where strong connections and short cycle times are required. With European approval (ETAG 002), high structural capability and ultra-fast cure, this new product enables continuous production for fast onward processing, automated fabrications and specific bonding designs.
Dow’s comprehensive product lines, latest innovations and industry collaborations will be showcased at glasstec 2018, including solutions to enhance air-tightness, fire safety, aesthetics and transparency in building façades. Visitors to the Dow booth will be invited to examine physical examples of these innovations and meet Dow’s technical experts to discuss how the company’s capabilities can contribute to modern façade design.
Dow will participate in Glass Technology Live, a joint show within glasstec that provides a forum for pioneering exhibits for glass and façade applications. Dow collaborated with Define Engineers and Seele to build a mesmerizing and unmissable exhibit entitled ‘Gravity’ showing how their super-high strength and crystal clear structural bonding technologies combine both performance and architectural design freedom.
