Sustainable and Versatile Preservation

UCARCIDE™ 25 Antimicrobial

Preservatives are essential components in the manufacture of cleaning and other household products, protecting them from microbial growth, extending their shelf life and maintaining aesthetic properties that are critical to the consumer. However, the scrutiny over preservatives keeps growing, reducing the range of chemistries that can be effectively used to preserve these types of formulations.

Fortunately, Glutaraldehyde, the active ingredient in UCARCIDE™ 25 Antimicrobial is one of the most effective and versatile molecules available in the market offering great flexibility for today’s and tomorrow’s formulations.

DOES NOT RELEASE FORMALDEHYDE
Glutaraldehyde is frequently confused with formaldehyde and other aldehydes because of the chemical family name “aldehyde”, but their chemical and toxicological properties are significantly different. When you use UCARCIDE™ 25 Antimicrobial containing Dow’s Genuine Glutaraldehyde, you are using a product that does not contain any added formaldehyde or release formaldehyde in use.

PROVIDES BROAD SPECTRUM MICROBIAL PROTECTION
UCARCIDE™ 25 Antimicrobial offers protection against bacteria, yeast, and mold in various household, institutional and industrial formulations including, but not limited to, fabric softeners and cleaners.

OFFERS FORMULATION FLEXIBILITY
UCARCIDE™ 25 Antimicrobial can be formulated with or without isothiazolone chemistries, depending on formulators’ preferences, and is compatible with most formulation ingredients except enzymes and primary amines.

FAVORABLE SAFETY AND SUSTAINABILITY PROFILE
Dow’s Glutaraldehyde has a long safety record and its proper use is well documented. It is readily biodegradable, non-carcinogenic, non-persistent and non-bioaccumulative.

GLOBAL APPROVALS
UCARCIDE™ 25 is approved by US EPA for the use in aqueous or water containing products and systems, including industrial, institutional and consumer in-can processes and products, to control the growth of bacteria and fungi.
