Dow Microbial Control Reaches Another BPR Milestone with the Submission of Biocidal Product Dossiers for CMIT/MIT
Our regulatory team’s experience in submitting product dossiers and our in-depth knowledge of CMIT/MIT brought us a step further in our BPR product registration support strategy for 19 active substances and multiple products Dow supports in the EU under the BPR.
Dow’s long-term support for CMIT/MIT continues
Dow invented CMIT/MIT and first brought it to the European market with KATHON™ Biocides in 1976. The submitted dossiers for solid, solvent- and aqueous-based products are based on extensive efficacy data and comprehensive risk assessments that determined the products offer the desired antimicrobial efficacy and are safe to use. The product family covers concentrations ranging from 1.5-14 percent, giving our customers the formulation flexibility they need.
CMIT/MIT (CAS 55965-84-9) is supported by Dow Microbial Control in the EU, and has been approved2 as an active ingredient under the BPR for product types:
- Product Type 2: Disinfectants and algaecides not intended for direct application to humans or animals
- Product Type 4: Food and feed area
- Product Type 6: Preservatives for products during storage
- Product Type 11: Preservatives for liquid-cooling and processing systems
- Product Type 12: Slimicides
- Product Type 13: Working or cutting fluid preservatives
