Pack Studios Shanghai is designed to promote collaboration and accelerate the development of innovative packaging solutions that support the circular economy. We provide you the opportunity to leverage Dow’s technical expertise, broad product portfolio and leading application testing capabilities. Our customers come from a variety of industries including food, automotive/automobile, agriculture, logistics and more.

As part of encouraging further partnership, we launched the Pack Studios Live platform in April 2021. Customers can now monitor the packaging activities in real-time and provide instant feedback for better collaboration.

Pack Studios Shanghai is equipped with multiple fabrication lines, physical testing equipment and leading characterization technologies. We support external customers and internal scientists covering every step of the packaging process, from product validation and application development to packaging innovation and recyclability research.

Pack Studios Shanghai possesses an extensive range of fabrication capabilities from plastic extrusion, film blowing and casting, multi-layer film lamination to packaging. We also have recycling production which helps to close the loop in your plastic applications’ life cycle and packaging adhesives formulations to meet a wide range of processing needs across many industries.

Our packaging developmental works includes granule-filled packaging, liquid filled packaging with different content temperature and a commercial scale stretch hooding line and a semi-automatic vacuum skin packaging line. This enables our customers and scientists to evaluate the products across diverse packaging application areas. Aligning with the company’s sustainability goals, we have installed an industry leading plastic recovery system to support internal and external customers on plastic recycling innovation studies.

Equipped with various testing instruments and testing professionals, we provide testing support to Asia and global customers. We adhere to ASTM/ISO standards for film tensile, seal strength, puncture, dart, tear, optics, COF, shrinkage, Gelbo flex and barrier tests.

Our lab also enables us to implement high and low temperature modulus, tensile, puncture, peeling, elastic recovery and dart impact tests to better mimic possible conditions in real life. On top of that, our lab provides support for developing custom-made testing methods to study and solve application related issues under various application scenarios.
