Fuzhou, China - April 22, 2016 -

Dow Polyurethanes, a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW), officially launched its high performance, VORAMER™ non-solvent running track binder solution at the 2016 China Sports Show.

Aimed at building more sustainable running tracks and recreational venues in China, the VORAMER™ series are polyurethane binder materials tailored for the Chinese market and designed specifically to improve athletic performance and ensure student safety. The new solution represents the most advanced innovative technology and safety standards in a polyurethane running track system.

“Dow Polyurethanes solutions consistently offer high performance and sustainability, epitomizing the Company's concept of sustainability through innovation," said Anand Sundaresan, Dow Polyurethanes Asia Pacific commercial director. “VORAMER™ product offerings feature improved safety, environmental protection, and convenience. With this new solution, we are seeking out new business opportunities for Dow and our partners, while boosting the sustainable development of China’s sports facility industry, and creating a green sports and recreation environment for consumers."

Dow’s VORAMER™ non-solvent running track binder is free of volatile solvent toxics such as benzene, methylbenzene, and dimethylbenzenes, and does not have a pungent odor, nor any hazardous additives, for instance, plasticizers or heavy metals. It is safe for both humans and the environment, and entirely complies with environmental protection requirements. Easy to install, and with good adhesion, and excellent aging resistance, the binder is an ideal material for running tracks in a variety of venues, including on campus, in professional sports arenas, and on recreational walk paths. VORAMER™ also provides a flexible formula, enabling customized products to address regional, climate and weather differences across China while ensuring installation quality and performance.

China’s thriving sports industry provides unprecedented market opportunities for related technologies and solutions. The total size of the industry and its linked sectors reached RMB 1.4 trillion in 2015, with a goal of RMB 5 trillion by 2025, according to the Chinese government. In the meantime, the industry's prosperity requires improved quality. The Chinese government is encouraging sports consumption and nationwide fitness. Consumers are calling for greener, safer sports facilities with better quality and more user-friendly designs. The brand new VORAMER™ non-solvent running track binder solution is an innovative breakthrough catering to such market demand.

VORAMER™ products were successfully applied to several sports and recreational pilot projects even before its official launch. It was used in the 400-square-meter colorful plastic playground in a residential demonstration area of Vanke's Architecture Research Center, serving as a vivid display of people-centric designs. VORAMER™ was also adopted in the Jiangmen No. 1 High School’s 400-meter permeable running track, with its installation quality, performance, and eco-friendly features unanimously recognized by the school and the local education administration in Guangdong, southern China.
