New, Low-Density Foam Opens U.S. Market to Office Seating ManufacturersMidland, MI - October 05, 2016 -
The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) has introduced a new U.S.-manufactured low-density polyurethane system for molded seating and backrest foam applications that uses less material yet maintains an optimal comfort level. This new technology has a standard density range of 2.7-2.9, which is the lowest MDI-based polyurethane density range currently on the market for molded applications.
“Driven by customer demands, our team developed this low-density foam innovation to improve manufacturers’ position in the marketplace,” said Scott Snyder, marketing manager, Dow Polyurethanes. “Besides lowering manufacturing costs by using less material, we are able to offer additional savings by removing import costs.”
As an expansion of Dow’s ComfortScience portfolio, this new low-density foam solution offers a robust processing range for multiple indentation load deflection and will give domestic manufacturers the ability to add the “Made in America” stamp to their products.
The Dow low-density foam system is commercially available in the North America market.
