Surfactants for improved grinding efficiency
ACUMER™ Rheology Modifiers & Dispersants from Dow help improve recovery by enhancing collector selectivity for the target mineral. The ACUMER products act as co-collectors and dispersing particles which allow collectors better access to target mineral and liberating surfaces from slime (micro-fines). The ACUSOL™ Rheology Modifiers and Thickeners help to stabilize low solids mineral slurries to improve handling and metallurgical recovery.

Frothers are required to strengthen and stabilize air bubbles in the flotation system so the froth layer can be optimized for the system. Dow offers a range of glycol ether, polyglycol and alcohol-based frothers designed for a wide range of system conditions and requirements, from fine to coarse particle flotation. For prevention and control of unwanted foam
In mining operations defoamers are used to break and control foam and are often used in concentrate and tailings thickeners, Bayer liquors & red-mud circuits in alumina plants, waste water treatment plants, bacterial oxidation and digestion processes. Dow offers a range of Polypropylene Glycols (PPGs) and surfactants to help improve the efficiency and reliability of mining operations by controlling unwanted foam.
Depressants enhance flotation separation
Dow’s legacy ethyleneamine products serve as excellent flotation depressants for depression of iron and other metals and in certain types of ores including gold and pyrite.
Optimize solid/liquid separation
Concentrate and tailings streams both require effective solid/liquid separation. Dewatering aids are used in the thickeners and filtration units to improve the speed and effectiveness of dewatering. Dow’s POLYOX™ WSR Specialty Flocculants exhibit a unique attraction toward colloidal silicates and are added to thickener feed streams to optimize dewatering and maximize solids density (note, can be used as co flocculant to enhance mainstream flocculants). TRITON™ Filtration Aids are surface tension reducing surfactants used to reduce moisture content of filter cakes and centrifuged solids.
