As the market for geothermal systems continues to expand, the importance of choosing the right heat transfer fluid has also increased.

For the market in North America and Latin America, DOWFROST™ GEO 20 is a ready-to-use propylene glycol-based heat transfer fluid intended for geothermal heat pump systems. It contains 20% by volume propylene glycol and specially designed corrosion inhibitors that satisfy ASTM D1384 requirements. DOWFROST GEO 20 will not sustain bio-organism growth when used at full strength, but its lower glycol content gives it lower viscosity and higher heat transfer efficiency. DOWFROST GEO 20 is intended to be used onlyat full strength and only for geothermal heating and cooling systems.

For Europe, Middle East, India, and Africa, DOWCAL™ Geothermal Fluids, ready-to-use glycol-based heat transfer fluids intended for geothermal heat pump systems. Both DOWCAL pGEO inhibited propylene glycol-based) fluid and DOWCAL eGEO (inhibited ethylene glycol-based) fluid contain specially designed corrosion inhibitors that satisfy ASTM D1384 requirements. DOWCAL eGEO will not sustain bio-organism growth when used at full strength, but its lower glycol content gives it lower viscosity and higher heat transfer efficiency. DOWCAL pGEO offers a low acute oral toxicity, reducing contamination hazards compared to methanol alternatives. DOWCAL eGEO and DOWCAL pGEO can be diluted to 20% concentration in order to provide corrosion protection while maintaining pumping efficiency.
