HACCP

Traceability

The production of TRACELIGHT™ 50% Caustic Soda follows ISO 22000 rigorous production and quality control processes. Our Food Safety Team consists of trained cross functional members who ensure that the entire manufacturing process of TRACELIGHT™ 50% Caustic Soda is designed and monitored for consistent quality and purity. Each production lot number is analyzed using validated analytical methods on calibrated equipment. TRACELIGHT™ 50% Caustic Soda is stored in a dedicated tank, and there are additional pieces of dedicated equipment such as pumps, pipeline and sampling device. Documentation is maintained to help ensure traceability from manufacture to the final customer. Transportation equipment used for land transport is approved for food-grade products. Tamper-evident seals are applied to all shipping containers. All production lot number samples are obtained and stored for two years.

Advantages and authorization as food processing aid and cleaning agent for food packaging materials

TRACELIGHT™ Caustic Soda is authorized as a food processing aid2 under the French Decret 2011-5093. TRACELIGHT™ 50% Caustic Soda not only fulfills the purity and quality criteria set by the European Union on the use of caustic soda in the food industry4 but is manufactured in an ISO 22000 certified plant. 1ISO 22000 is a standard developed by the International Organization for Standardization dealing with food safety. It is a Food Safety Management System that can be applied to any organization in the food chain, farm to fork. Becoming ISO 22000 certified allows a company to demonstrate its ability to control food safety hazards.

2Definition Food processing aid (Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008): any substance which is not consumed as a food by itself; is intentionally used in the processing of raw materials, foods or their ingredients, to fulfil a certain technological purpose during treatment or processing and may result in the unintentional but technically unavoidable presence in the final product of residues of the substance or its derivatives provided they do not present any health risk and do not have any technological effect on the final product.
