Calgary, Alberta - May 06, 2016
Today, The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) announced it will donate $100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal for use in support of recovery efforts in Alberta’s devastated communities.
“Dow has been operating in the province of Alberta for more than 55 years,” said Debbie Stephens, president, Dow Chemical Canada ULC. “This contribution to the Canadian Red Cross is Dow Canada’s way of showing support to all Albertans including families of our employees and industry partners who have been impacted by this disaster.”
Although not directly affected by the devastating fires, Dow Canada works with many businesses in the energy industry that are experiencing this disaster first-hand. Dow is also reviewing a request by the Province of Alberta to send firefighting equipment and trained firefighters to assist in the response.
“Dow is proud to stand together with fellow Albertans who are experiencing this painstaking loss and beginning the process of rebuilding their lives,” said Rob Vallentine, Dow's global director of corporate citizenship and president of The Dow Chemical Company Foundation. “The response is still underway and recovery efforts are expected to be long-term. Dow will work to find ways to leverage our existing community partnerships to support those impacted by this disaster.”
