Products & Industries

Dow Wire & Cable provides jacketing, cellular and solid insulation compounds for voice and data applications for the telecommunications wire and cable industry including fiber optics, copper cable, cable television and ocean cable; and for the low, medium and high voltage power cable market.

Dow Wire & Cable offers materials with very high standards of processibility and performance, combined with a superior balance of properties, including excellent stress crack resistance, high thermal stability, toughness, and outstanding electrical properties.

Technologies

Dow Wire & Cable has a broad range of process technologies to choose from. In fact, as the world’s largest polyethylene (PE) supplier, Dow has almost every major process known to make PE on a commercial scale. Dow is a leader in both the gas-phase and the solution process. In high-pressure low-density PE, Dow has both tubular and autoclave reactors. Dow Wire & Cable is not only the largest producer of resin in terms of volume, but also a leader in both catalyst and process technology.

Dow Wire & Cable gives customers access to resins made with the latest technologies, including INSITE™ Technology, and UNIPOL™ Gas-Phase Process Technology. Dow Wire & Cable is fully leveraging and exploiting these technologies to strengthen both solution and gas-phase assets, as dictated by customer needs.

The Global Technology Center (GTC) and Materials Processing Skill Center (MPSC) provide leading-edge wire and cable product development as well as compounding and materials processing technology and development.

Global Technology Center – The GTC is located in central New Jersey, at Dow Wire & Cable's Weston Canal Center R&D facility and is supported by satellite technology facilities in Europe, Asia and South America. The GTC is a world-class R&D facility that offers customers worldwide, round-the-clock technical and troubleshooting service, hosts customer training and interface sessions, and regularly visits customer sites for a hands-on understanding of customer needs, requirements and facilities. Integral to providing next generation technologies, the GTC provides:

  • Development of new products and projects
  • Troubleshooting support
  • Expertise in end-use applications
  • Analysis of performance requirements

Materials Processing Skill Center – Also located in New Jersey, the MPSC R&D processing facility is supported by satellite compounding facilities in the United States and Europe. It houses an extensive team of experts, technology and state-of-the-art equipment focused on compounding, pelletizing, and process development.
