Putting Brilliance and Life into Fabrics
VERSENE™ Chelating Agents are important tools in all phases of textile processing, and particularly in the scouring, bleaching, and dyeing stages. They combat the effects of hardness and trace metal ions to control scale and discoloration, as well as improving the effectiveness of the many different aqueous systems used from preparation to finishing stages. In bleaching, Dow Chelating Agents inactivate heavy metal ions to prevent degradation of peroxygen bleaching compounds and reduce fiber degradation. In dyeing stages, they control divalent and trivalent ions that can cause precipitate formation, dye color shifts, and inconsistent dye uptake and colorfastness.
Textile applications for Dow Chelating Agents include:
- Scouring stages for:
- Cotton
- Wool
- Silk
- Rayon
- Other synthetics
- Bleaching stages
- Dyeing stages including:
- Disperse dyes
- Vat dyes and direct dyes
- Naphthols
- Acetate dyes
- Sulfur colors
- Chrome dyes
- Color stripping
