Donations and Contributions
2004 Donations/Contributions Summary
West Virginia Operations has donated a tremendous amount of financial support to local communities in the Kanawha Valley, but as large commitments are complete our overall spending will be less than in past years.
Just as important as the dollars we give, is the time and talent our employees spend volunteering in local communities each year. In 2004, approximately 100 employees at West Virginia Operations made personal commitments through volunteerism to enrich the communities in which they live and work.
Dow also donated more than $500,000 to nearly 70 different organizations in 2004. As we continue to improve our competitive position, we will strive to continue our ongoing support of the financial and volunteer needs of the community. Three key areas regarding donations and contributions include:
Social Responsibility improving the quality of life in the communities in which we live and work.
Economic Prosperity helping organizations maintain and create new investments for the community by supporting higher education to create an educated workforce, enhancing government relationship in order to create a more business-friendly environment, and using Dow contributions to provide a foundation for local organizations to grow beyond our initial financial commitment.
Environmental Stewardship supporting projects that improve the environment without compromising the ability for future generations to thrive.
