St. Charles Operations recently awarded a total of $18,000 to educators from nine different schools in St. Charles Parish as part of Dow’s Educational Enhancement School Grant Program. Nawzer Parakh, St. Charles Operations Site Leader, presented the grants to the teachers during an awards ceremony held at the site’s administration building.
“This program enables Dow to provide funding for education projects that promote academic excellence in the areas of science and mathematics,” said Stanley Dufrene, St. Charles Operations Community Relations Manager. “The projects chosen are innovative and outstanding. We are proud to be able to support these educators as they work to build student interest in science and math.”
The $2,000 grants are awarded on a competitive basis, and were evaluated by a Grants Review Panel, which consists of individuals representing the educational system, the community and Dow. The proposals were graded in four areas, and those receiving the highest scores were funded.
“Dow has been a longtime supporter of St. Charles Parish schools and is proud to fund such outstanding projects,” Dufrene continued.
