Community Involvement – It's What Good Neighbors Do

Volunteers recently spent an afternoon visiting neighbors in the Killona community and in areas of Hahnville along River Road. Employees distributed bags that included information about the St. Charles Operations facility and shelter-in-place brochure. During the visits, residents also had the opportunity to ask questions and learn more information about our operations.

St. Charles Operations has more than 2,000 employees and contract employees working in St. Charles Parish. Dow's annual economic impact in the St. Charles Parish area is more than $200 million. This impact comes in the way of payroll dollars to local employees, taxes paid to local government and purchases made to local suppliers for goods and services.

However, Dow's impact goes beyond its economic contributions. Dow believes that the principles of sustainable development will ensure our world's economic, societal and environmental advancement today – without compromising the quality of life for future generations. Therefore, we focus our contributions – made through The Dow Chemical Company Foundation – on those programs and projects that align with sustainability to build better communities where our employees work and live. Through Dow's corporate volunteerism guidelines, we also support our employees who choose to volunteer their personal time and talents to community programs and organizations.

At St. Charles Operations, sustainable development is the foundation of our relationships with all of our stakeholders and is an essential element in leading this site toward its vision of being the best-integrated site for business success.

St. Charles Operations is owned by Union Carbide Corporation, a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company. "Dow", as used throughout this web site, often refers generically to The Dow Chemical Company and its consolidated subsidiaries.
