UCAR Latex 471

UCAR™ Latex 471 has properties that were previously available only with solvent-borne alkyds. These include high gloss, excellent adhesion to difficult substrates, and the "feel" of the coating on application. Moreover, UCAR Latex 471 offers performance superior to alkyds in terms of early block resistance, embrittlement on aging, and mildew resistance. The products are not designed to be competitive with acrylic polymers in exterior applications although performance in these applications is far superior to alkyds.

UCAR Latex 471 has four primary attributes that may be utilized in formulation design:
  • High gloss potential;
  • Outstanding wet and dry adhesion to difficult substrates, including aged alkyd, chalk, metals, and many plastic substrates;
  • Inherent rheology that yields excellent film build and leveling;
  • Block resistance far superior to conventional latexes of equivalent hardness.
