Who We Are, What We Do
UCAR Emulsion Systems and Monomers develops, manufactures and sells UCAR™ acrylic, vinyl acrylic and styrene acrylic latexes, branched vinyl ester NEOCAR™ latexes, ethylene-modified EVOCAR™ latexes and acrylic monomers including glacial acrylic acid, ethyl acrylate and butyl acrylate. These products are used in the architectural coatings, adhesives, construction products, industrial coatings, traffic paints, and water treatment markets. UESM also produces and markets complementary UCAR™ POLYPHOBE™ Rheology Modifiers.
Headquartered in Cary, North Carolina, UCAR Emulsion Systems and Monomers employs approximately 300 people, working in areas such as polymer science research, chemical engineering, sales, marketing, accounting, customer service and production.
In addition to its headquarters, the company has four plant sites in the United States, and also operates two exterior exposure "test fences", designed to test the exterior weatherability of our latexes in paints and other outdoor applications. These stations are located in Cary, NC; and Miami, FL
