About Us
UCAR Emulsion Systems develops, manufactures and sells UCAR™ acrylic, vinyl acrylic and styrene acrylic latexes, branched vinyl ester NEOCAR™ latexes, and ethylene-modified EVOCAR™ latexes. These products are used in the architectural coatings, adhesives, construction products, industrial coatings, textile, traffic paints, and paper markets. UES also produces and markets complementary UCAR™ POLYPHOBE™ Rheology Modifiers as well as sells CELLOSIZE™ Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (HEC). Both of these product lines enhance the performance of a broad range of coatings. Headquartered in Cary, North Carolina, UES employs approximately 600 people, working in areas such as polymer science research, chemical engineering, sales, marketing, accounting, customer service and production. Globally, UES has 11 sites, including plants in the United States, Europe, Thailand, The Peoples Republic of China, United Arab Emirates, and South America. UES also operates three exterior exposure stations ("test fences"), designed to test the exterior weatherability of our latexes in paints and other "outdoor" applications. These stations are located in Cary, NC; Miami, FL; and Singapore. Because of our global focus, UES has established "sister" R&D facilities in both Europe and Asia to address the markets in these regions. In the Asia/Pacific area, our primary areas of research are architectural coatings, adhesives, nonwoven binders, textiles, floor polish, and paper. In Europe, UES is concentrating on the construction and maintenance industries. |
