Radiant Floor - Under Slab
|
Radiant Floors Application Information Sheet (98KB PDF)
Radiant floor heating directs heat upward into the room. To ensure effective operation of the system, particularly for under-slab floor designs, insulation is an important consideration. Properly insulating radiant floor systems makes it possible to provide maximum comfort at minimum cost. Install STYROFOAM™ extruded polystyrene insulation under the slab to provide moisture protection and to prevent radiant floor heat from dissipating into the ground. Dow Building Solutions† offers a number of STYROFOAM extruded polystyrene products with high compressive strength to satisfy a variety of loading situations, and superior moisture resistance to provide long-term R-value for radiant floor-under slab applications. The products are tough and durable to withstand normal construction site handling and are easy to cut and install.
There is a STYROFOAM insulation product that is right for every radiant floor-under slab application.

| Higher strength insulation makes the product more durable and moisture resistant. The tongue & groove edges provide a more continuous insulation layer and can help maintain a more continuous vapor retarder. The 25 psi (3,600 psf) makes product suitable for normal loading situations. Can be used in areas with expected live loads of 5psi (720 psf) and dead loads of 8.3 psi (1,195 psf).
