Midland, MI - May 13, 2004

The Dow Chemical Company pledged support for the Midland and Saginaw Habitat for Humanity affiliates as part of its ongoing commitment to Habitat for Humanity International.   Dow is a leading supplier of insulation materials and has donated STYROFOAM* insulation products, funding for house sponsorship and volunteer work crews to support Habitat for Humanity for over two decades. 

Dow committed 15,000 board feet of STYROFOAM insulation for the restoration of the Saginaw ReStore, and presented the Saginaw Habitat for Humanity affiliate with a check for $30,000.  The funds are allocated for house sponsorship during the Saginaw Blitz Build scheduled June 11-26, 2004.   Dow also presented the Midland Habitat affiliate with a check for $30,000 which will be used to fund the start-up of a Habitat ReStore for Midland County.  Habitat ReStores recycle used, overstocked and discontinued building materials donated by individuals, firms and contractors and sell them to the general public to raise funds for future Habitat homes.

Dow employees and community volunteers were on hand for the announcement and rolled up their sleeves alongside Habitat families to build the walls for a Midland Habitat home that will be completed this summer.
