Dow Builds Habitat House During Annual Meeting

Midland, MI — May 2004

During the annual meeting, Dow employees and community volunteers rolled up their sleeves alongside Habitat families, in the parking lot of the Midland Center for the Arts, to build the walls and install STYROFOAM* extruded polystyrene insulation for a Midland Habitat home that will be completed this summer.

Construction
Dow has been donating STYROFOAM extruded polystyrene insulation products, funding for house sponsorship, and volunteer work crews to support Habitat for Humanity for over two decades. As part of our ongoing commitment, Larry Washington, corporate vice president – Environment, Health & Safety, Human Resources and Public Affairs and Kostas Katsgolou, business vice president, Building & Construction pledged Dow's support for the Midland and Saginaw Habitat for Humanity affiliates at a press conference held in the parking lot where the construction was taking place.

During the event, 15,000 board feet of STYROFOAM extruded polystyrene insulation was commited for the restoration of the Saginaw ReStore, and a cheque for $30,000 was presented to the Saginaw Habitat for Humanity affiliate. The funds are allocated for house sponsorship during the Saginaw Blitz Build scheduled June 11 – 26, 2004. A cheque for $30,000 to fund the start-up of a Habitat ReStore for Midland County was also presented to the Midland Habitat affiliate. Habitat ReStores recycle used, overstocked and discontinued building materials donated by individuals, firms and contractors and sell them to the general public to raise funds for future Habitat homes.
